Aamir Khan, the Bollywood icon celebrated for his dedication to his craft, recently opened up about a significant regret that has weighed on him throughout his illustrious 35-year career. In a candid interview, the actor revealed his remorse for not prioritizing his family and personal relationships, admitting that his intense focus on filmmaking led him to miss out on precious moments with his loved ones.

Khan confessed that for nearly 30 years, he was completely immersed in the world of cinema, which inadvertently caused him to neglect his personal life. He expressed a sense of loss, particularly regarding the time he could have spent with his children, Ira, Junaid, and Azad, during their formative years. "I wish I hadn't let that happen because you can't get those years back," Aamir stated, emphasizing the irreplaceable nature of those missed moments. He specifically mentioned the times when Ira and Junaid were little, acknowledging that he can never recover that lost time.

The actor’s realization stemmed from a period of introspection during the COVID-19 pandemic. The lockdown provided him with the opportunity to reflect on his life and recognize the imbalance between his professional and personal commitments. This realization, according to Khan, made him unhappy and angry at himself. He confessed that he knew everything about his team and directors but was unaware of his children's feelings, problems, and needs when they were younger.

Driven by this regret, Aamir Khan initially decided to step away from films altogether. He was so determined to rectify his past mistakes that he even considered selling his production company. However, his family, including his daughter Ira and former wife Kiran Rao, encouraged him to find a better work-life balance instead. Ira, in particular, advised him to manage his time more effectively so that he could dedicate more attention to his personal relationships without completely abandoning his career.

Khan has since taken active steps to improve his relationships with his family and friends. He shared that he has been spending considerable time with his children, mother, and close friends over the past few years. While he humorously mentioned that his increased presence at home has, at times, overwhelmed his children, it is evident that he is committed to making up for lost time.

In addition to focusing on his family, Aamir Khan has also confirmed his relationship with Gauri Spratt, a longtime friend of 25 years. He expressed contentment in the relationship, describing Gauri as gentle and intelligent. Aamir, who has been married twice before, remains on good terms with his ex-wives, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, and continues to co-parent his children with them.

Looking ahead, Aamir Khan is set to appear in "Sitaare Zameen Par," a thematic sequel to his acclaimed film "Taare Zameen Par," scheduled for release in June. This project signifies his return to the screen after a break, during which he prioritized his personal life.

Aamir Khan's candid reflections serve as a reminder of the importance of balancing career aspirations with personal relationships. While professional success is undoubtedly valuable, the actor's story underscores the significance of cherishing and nurturing the bonds with loved ones, as these are the moments that truly define a fulfilling life.
