Aamir Khan is creating a buzz once again, not just for his latest film "Sitaare Zameen Par," but also for his heartwarming interactions with fans and his public appearances with his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt. The superstar has been surprising audiences at various theaters, adding a personal touch to the film's release.
"Sitaare Zameen Par," which hit theaters on June 20, 2025, is already making waves as a spiritual successor to Khan's earlier hit, "Taare Zameen Par." This sports comedy-drama, directed by R. S. Prasanna, features Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh and is an official remake of the Spanish film "Champions." The film revolves around a suspended basketball coach, played by Aamir Khan, who is tasked with training a team of players with disabilities for a tournament.
Aamir Khan's recent theater visits have delighted fans, with many sharing their excitement on social media. These surprise appearances underscore his commitment to connecting with his audience and promoting the film's message of inclusivity and resilience.
Adding to the buzz, Aamir Khan has been seen with his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, at several public events related to the film. The couple made a notable appearance at the "Sitaare Zameen Par" screening, marking their first public appearance together. Gauri Spratt has been a significant part of Aamir's life for the past 18 months. She has a Tamilian mom and Irish father and has a six-year-old son. Aamir's family has warmly accepted Gauri.
On June 21, the couple was spotted at the PVR theatre in Juhu. Aamir was seen enjoying a mango ice cream and wearing a "Sitaare Zameen Par" merchandise t-shirt. Gauri was dressed casually in an oversized t-shirt and loose-fitted bottoms. Aamir held Gauri's hand and posed for photographers before joining the rest of the cast to promote the movie.
Gauri Spratt is also credited as the Chief Operating Officer for "Sitaare Zameen Par" and has played a significant role in the film's execution.
"Sitaare Zameen Par" faced some hurdles with the censor board before its release. The board requested five changes, including adding a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the opening disclaimer. Other changes included replacing the word "kamal" (lotus) from visuals and subtitles and changing "business woman" to "business person." The name "Michael Jackson" was also replaced with "Lovebirds" in the subtitles. Despite these changes, the film received a U/A certificate, making it accessible to a broad audience with parental guidance for children under 13.
The film has garnered positive reviews, and according to Sacnilk, "Sitaare Zameen Par" earned ₹11.7 crore on its release date.
"Sitaare Zameen Par" is not just a film; it's a heartwarming story about overcoming prejudice, discovering true potential, and learning valuable life lessons. With Aamir Khan's engaging performance and the film's inspiring narrative, it is set to resonate with audiences worldwide.
