JSW MG Motor India has announced that it will be increasing the prices of its vehicles across its model range, effective July 1, 2025. The price hike, which will be up to 1.5%, is being implemented to mitigate the impact of rising input costs and other macroeconomic factors affecting the automotive industry. This revision will affect most of their models.
The price increase will apply to MG Motor India's entire product lineup, including both its internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) offerings. Key models impacted by the hike include the Comet EV, Windsor EV, ZS EV, Astor, Hector, and Gloster. The exact amount of the price increase will vary depending on the specific model and variant.
This isn't the first time MG Motor India has revised its prices in 2025. Back in January, the company had already increased prices by up to 3% across its entire product portfolio, citing similar reasons related to rising input costs and external economic pressures.
The announcement of the price hike comes shortly after MG Motor India had reduced the prices of its ZS EV by up to ₹4.44 lakh as part of its 6th anniversary celebrations in India. Despite this recent price cut, the ZS EV remains the brand's most expensive EV model, with prices starting at ₹13 lakh (ex-showroom).
The current MG Motor India lineup includes the Comet EV, priced from ₹4.99 lakh, the Windsor EV at ₹10 lakh. The Astor starts at ₹11.30 lakh, the Hector at ₹17.5 lakh, and the Gloster at ₹41.07 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
MG Motor India is not alone in implementing price hikes. The Indian automotive industry has witnessed multiple price revisions this year, with leading brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Kia, Honda, Renault, and BMW also increasing prices in April 2025. These hikes generally ranged from 2% to 4%, with manufacturers citing factors such as inflation, rising raw material costs, and increasing operational expenses.
Despite the price increase, MG Motor India is gearing up to expand its presence in the Indian market with new models and offerings. The company is preparing to enter the luxury segment with the launch of the M9 Limousine next month, followed by the Cyberster electric convertible sports car later in the year. These premium offerings will be sold through the new MG Select dealership network. In addition, the brand showcased the Majestor, a premium version of the Gloster, at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, hinting at a potential future launch.
In May 2025, MG Motor India retailed 6,304 units, marking a 40% year-on-year growth compared to the 4,510 units sold in May 2024. The company has also seen its EV market share rise to 28% in May 2025, driven by the success of the MG Windsor EV, which has become the country's top-selling EV.
