India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has successfully undergone surgery in Munich, Germany, for a sports hernia. The news comes as a relief to fans and the Indian cricket fraternity, who were concerned about his fitness.

Yadav himself confirmed the news via a social media post, expressing his gratitude for the smooth surgery and stating he is already on the road to recovery. He wrote, "Life Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can't wait to be back."

The 34-year-old had been experiencing discomfort for some time, which led him to consult a specialist in the UK. Following thorough examination, surgery was deemed the most appropriate course of action. He then traveled to Munich, Germany, where the procedure was successfully performed.

Suryakumar Yadav last represented India in the T20I series against England in February 2025. He was also a standout performer in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, amassing 717 runs for the Mumbai Indians.

While the exact timeline for his return to competitive cricket remains uncertain, it is speculated that he could be back in action for the India tour of Bangladesh, where India will play three ODIs and three T20Is across the end of August. The T20I series is scheduled to commence on August 26 in Chattogram.

His presence will be vital for the Indian team, especially as they prepare to defend their title at the 2026 T20 World Cup, which India will co-host with Sri Lanka.
