Australia defeated the West Indies by 159 runs in the first Test at Kensington Oval in Barbados, securing victory on the third day. Josh Hazlewood was the star performer, taking 5 wickets for 43 runs in 12 overs. The West Indies, chasing a target of 301, were bowled out for 141 in 33.4 overs.

The West Indies' chase got off to a bad start when Mitchell Starc dismissed Kraigg Brathwaite in the first over. Josh Hazlewood then took control, dismissing John Campbell and debutant Brandon King with successive balls. Hazlewood's accuracy also led to the wickets of Roston Chase and Keacy Carty. The West Indies collapsed to 86-8 within 27 overs. A late partnership of 55 runs between Justin Greaves (38 not out) and Shamar Joseph (44) provided some resistance, but Nathan Lyon dismissed Joseph and Jayden Seales to end the innings.

Australia's second innings began shakily at 92-4. However, half-centuries from Travis Head, Beau Webster, and Alex Carey propelled them to a total of 310, setting a target of 301. Head scored 61, Webster contributed 63, and Carey added 65. Shamar Joseph took 5 wickets for 87 runs.

Earlier in the match, the West Indies bowled out Australia for a meager 180 on day one, with Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph taking nine wickets. However, Australia's bowlers fought back, leaving the West Indies at 57-4 at stumps on the first day. Seales finished with a five-wicket haul.
