Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has recently criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Siwan, Bihar, accusing him of neglecting crucial issues facing the state. Kishor stated that the Prime Minister's address failed to adequately address the concerns of unemployment and migration of students from Bihar.
Kishor has been a vocal critic of PM Modi's visits to Bihar, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming elections. He has alleged that these visits are primarily politically motivated, aimed at securing votes for the BJP and NDA, rather than focusing on the genuine development and welfare of the state. Kishor argues that PM Modi is using Bihar's resources for personal campaigning. He claimed that the Prime Minister would not announce any development projects for Bihar, but the people of Bihar would bear the cost of his security and rallies.
He has also questioned the timing of PM Modi's visits, suggesting they are strategically planned due to the approaching elections in Bihar. Kishor has drawn attention to what he sees as a pattern of electioneering disguised as government work, further alleging that taxpayers' money is being used for political campaigning.
Kishor has challenged the authenticity of the government's claims regarding new development projects in Bihar. He pointed out that some projects, like the locomotive factory in Marhowrah, already exist and are simply being repackaged. He has also accused the Prime Minister of avoiding critical issues such as the closure of sugar mills and the ongoing migration crisis in the state. Kishor highlighted that a significant number of Bihari youth continue to migrate in search of employment opportunities, questioning when this trend will stop. He has also alleged that Bihar's development has been sidelined, with factories and employment opportunities mainly concentrated in states like Gujarat.
Furthermore, Kishor has reminded the public of PM Modi's 2015 announcement of a Rs 1.25 lakh crore special package for Bihar, demanding an explanation as to whether the promised funds were disbursed and, if so, how they were utilized. He has also claimed that PM Modi has been "fooling" the people of Bihar during his visits to the state and making tall promises that are not fulfilled. He criticized the expenses incurred for PM Modi's visits, including the construction of high-tech cottages for leaders welcoming the Prime Minister.
In April 2025, Kishor declared that the upcoming Bihar assembly polls would be the "political funeral" of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He has accused Kumar, along with Lalu Prasad and PM Modi, of disappointing the people of Bihar.
