A couple, identified as Dharmendra Chaudhary, 45, and Suman, 41, were discovered dead in their flat in the Dadu Dayal Nagar area of Muhana, Jaipur on Friday. Initial postmortem reports suggest the deaths may have been a double suicide, but police are investigating all angles, including the possibility of murder.
CCTV Footage Reveals Argument
CCTV footage from the apartment building's parking area captured the couple in a tense exchange the day before their bodies were discovered. The footage shows Suman attempting to prevent Dharmendra from leaving in his car. She is seen standing near the vehicle, physically obstructing him. Dharmendra eventually moves her aside and reverses the car, but Suman continues to block his path. The couple then engage in a prolonged argument after Dharmendra parks the car and exits the vehicle. Another CCTV clip shows them entering their building together around 10:56 pm, with Suman carrying a bag; this was the last time they were seen alive.
Discovery and Initial Findings
Dharmendra, a sales manager at a bank, failed to report to work, and his calls went unanswered. This prompted concerned colleagues to alert a friend, who sent a relative to the couple's residence. The individual found the flat unlocked and discovered the bodies, subsequently informing the police. Police sources indicate that Dharmendra was found hanging, while Suman was found lying lifeless on the floor. Officials noted marks on Suman's neck, suggesting she may have also died by hanging. There were no signs of forced entry, and nothing appeared to be stolen from the flat. No suicide note was found at the scene.
Investigation and Suspicion
Authorities are exploring all potential scenarios, including the possibility of foul play. Investigators are examining call records, messages, and forensic evidence to determine the sequence of events leading to the couple's deaths. Suman's father, Ajay Singh, has alleged that his daughter's body had injury marks and has requested the police to investigate the case from a murder angle. While preliminary investigations suggest a possible suicide pact, police are awaiting further investigation.
Family and Community Impact
The couple is survived by their two daughters, aged 11 and 8, who were with their grandparents in Bharatpur for summer holidays at the time of the incident. Police have stated that the children are unaware of their parents' deaths. Neighbors indicated that the couple had recently purchased the flat and appeared to be financially stable. Many residents described the couple as polite and seemingly happy, and the incident has sent shockwaves through the residential community.
