The 2025 Wimbledon Championships have commenced, with Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner headlining the second day of competition. Both players are considered major contenders for the title, but their paths could converge in a potentially thrilling semi-final clash.

Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, begins his quest for a record-equalling eighth title against Frenchman Alexandre Muller. The Serbian superstar is seeded sixth, his lowest seeding at the All England Club since 2018. Meanwhile, world number one Jannik Sinner will face his fellow Italian, Luca Nardi, in his opening match on Court 1.

Adding intrigue to Sinner's campaign, Djokovic has admitted his surprise at Sinner's recent decision to dismiss two key members of his team: fitness coach Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio. Djokovic noted the unexpected timing of the split, especially considering the significant improvements in Sinner's game and physical condition over the past 18 months. Badio previously worked with Djokovic from 2017 to 2022, while Panichi was part of Djokovic's team from 2019 until recently. Sinner has downplayed the changes, stating that "Nothing major happened. Nothing big happened," and that he feels ready to compete.

Looking ahead in the draw, Djokovic is seeded for a quarter-final meeting with British number one Jack Draper. Draper, seeded fourth, will begin his campaign against Sebastian Baez and could face a challenging third-round match against Alexander Bublik. In the bottom half of the draw, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will face Fabio Fognini. Alcaraz is currently on an 18-match winning streak and could potentially meet Holger Rune in the quarter-finals.

Other notable matches on the schedule for Tuesday, July 1st, include Coco Gauff against Dayana Yastremska on Centre Court, and Jack Draper against Sebastián Báez on Court 1. Roberto Carballés is set to face Alex de Minaur on Court 18, while Jessica Bouzas will play Ella Seidel on Court 8.
