A lighthearted video of Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer being clean bowled by his mother, Rohini Iyer, during a casual game at home has taken the internet by storm, triggering a flurry of reactions and humorous comments from fans. The Punjab Kings, Iyer's IPL team, shared the video on X, capturing the delightful moment.

The clip shows Iyer casually dressed, playing cricket barefoot with a plastic ball in his living room. Rohini Iyer's delivery manages to get past her son, clean bowling him. Her reaction is one of pure joy and triumph, as she celebrates with arms raised and a wide smile. The Punjab Kings playfully captioned the post, "Only time SARPANCH won't mind getting bowled!". "Sarpanch" is Iyer's nickname.

Fans have responded with amusement and playful trolling. Comments include humorous suggestions for Iyer, such as "Try Bouncer next time Sarpanch," and other light-hearted jabs. The video highlights a wholesome and fun moment in the cricketer's personal life, showcasing the bond he shares with his mother.

Iyer is currently on a break after representing SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the Mumbai T20 League following the IPL 2025 season. Earlier, photos of the cricketer in Kazakhstan also circulated widely. Despite a successful IPL season where he scored 605 runs and led the Punjab Kings to the finals, Iyer was not selected for the Test series against England.

Aakash Chopra, a former Indian batter, believes that Iyer will have to wait for his chance to return to the Test squad, despite performing well in domestic cricket. Chopra pointed out that other players are also in line for middle-order positions. Iyer last played a Test match against England in 2024 and was later dropped from the squad.

Iyer's journey has been marked by resilience. He has returned to the BCCI's central contracts after being previously left out. In the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, Iyer scored 243 runs at an average of 48.60, with three fifties, emerging as India's top batter and contributing significantly to India's title win. In IPL 2025, Iyer made 604 runs in 17 matches. He also made 480 runs in just seven innings in Ranji Trophy 2024/25, at an average of 68.57.

Besides cricket, Iyer has also been exploring other sporting avenues. He was recently spotted at a racing event in Dubai, representing the Mumbai Falcons team and participating in racing, which promotes young racing talents from Asia.
