A teenage girl from Nagpur has reportedly been raped in a car by a social media friend, leading to the accused's arrest.

In a similar incident from June 21, 2025, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a relative in a parked car near a highway. The girl met the accused at a family wedding in Kondhali on April 26th where they began talking. They later connected on Instagram and exchanged messages. The accused persuaded her to join him for a drive, promising marriage. He then drove to a secluded area, parked the car, and assaulted her. The survivor confided in her family, who helped her file a police complaint, resulting in the accused's arrest.

In another case, a 19-year-old youth was arrested by Ambazari police for allegedly raping and sexually blackmailing a 15-year-old girl. The accused, Vaibhav Parate, befriended the victim online, and they became close over three months. The incidents occurred between May 3 and May 30 within the Ambazari police station's jurisdiction. Parate allegedly took advantage of the girl, promising to marry her when she was of legal age and coerced her into sexual intercourse. He also took compromising photographs and used them to blackmail her. He also defamed her on social media. The victim eventually told her family, who filed a complaint with the police. Parate was charged under the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Another incident from January 2023 involved a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly gang-raped in a car in the Saoner area of Nagpur. The accused offered her a lift, then drove to an isolated spot and raped her. The police arrested the two individuals involved.

In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, in July 2024, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a moving car by a man she met on Instagram. Another individual filmed the assault while a third drove the car. The accused then blackmailed the girl with the video. Two of the three accused have been arrested.
