Indian Film Body Appeals to PM Modi: Ban Pakistani Artists' Digital Content in India

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has formally appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a complete and permanent ban on the digital presence of Pakistani artists in India. This includes banning their social media accounts and any involvement in Indian media, OTT platforms, or film collaborations.

AICWA's letter to the Prime Minister cites the reappearance of Pakistani artists' social media accounts in India as the reason for their request. They consider this digital presence a direct insult to the sacrifices made by martyred soldiers and a painful reminder to Indians who have lost loved ones in terror attacks perpetrated by Pakistan. The association views Pakistan as a nation that has consistently waged war on India through terrorism, referencing events from the 26/11 Mumbai attacks to Pulwama, Uri, and Pahalgam.

The association has urged the government to enforce an immediate nationwide digital blackout of all Pakistani social media accounts and media channels. They are also calling for a ban on any future collaborations or promotions involving Pakistani citizens in the Indian media and OTT platforms.

Recently, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane's Instagram account became visible in India again after previously being banned following the Pahalgam attack. While accounts of actors like Fawad Khan and Hania Aamir remain blocked, the reappearance of Hocane's account has sparked concerns.
