The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have mutually agreed to postpone India's white-ball tour of Bangladesh, initially scheduled for August 2025, to September 2026. The series includes three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

Reasons for Postponement

The decision to defer the series was made after discussions between the two boards, considering the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams. The BCCI stated that the revised dates and fixtures for the tour would be announced in due course. Some reports suggest that diplomatic tensions and political instability in Bangladesh also contributed to the decision.

Original Schedule

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the fixtures for India's tour of Bangladesh in April 2025. The Indian team was scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on August 13, with the ODI series commencing on August 17 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The second ODI was also to be held in Dhaka on August 20. Chattogram was slated to host the third and final ODI on August 23, as well as the first T20I on August 26. The series would then return to Mirpur for the second and third T20Is on August 29 and 31, respectively.

Background

The T20I series would have marked the first time Bangladesh hosted India in a bilateral T20I series at home. The most recent T20I series between the two teams occurred in 2024 when Bangladesh toured India, with the hosts winning 3-0. In their last ODI series clash in 2022, India visited Bangladesh and suffered a 2-1 defeat.

Looking Ahead

The BCB has expressed its anticipation in welcoming India in September 2026 for the series. The two boards remain committed to maintaining strong bilateral ties.
