The Major League Soccer (MLS) game between Los Angeles FC (LAFC) and Austin FC, scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, has been postponed due to severe weather and flooding in Central Texas.

The decision to postpone the match was made after consulting with local authorities, prioritizing the safety of fans, players, and staff due to hazardous travel conditions caused by the ongoing severe weather. Austin FC released a statement citing the impact of the severe weather on travel safety in Central Texas as the primary reason for the postponement.

Central Texas has been experiencing devastating flash flooding, resulting in at least 32 fatalities and leaving dozens missing. Austin FC expressed their deepest sympathy for those affected by the flooding, conveying their condolences to the families, friends, and neighbors who have lost loved ones. The club also extended gratitude and respect to those involved in life-saving measures during the crisis.

A new date for the match at Q2 Stadium will be announced later. Tickets for the original match date will be honored on the rescheduled date.

The postponement comes less than three weeks before Austin is scheduled to host the 2025 MLS All-Star Game at Q2 Stadium on Wednesday, July 23.

This is not the first time severe weather has led to the postponement of a match involving a Texas-based MLS team. In 2024, a game between the Houston Dynamo and LAFC was postponed due to Hurricane Beryl.

Currently, the weather in Texas is partly cloudy with a temperature of 88°F (31°C), feeling like 95°F (35°C). There is a low chance of rain. The forecast for the next few days indicates a continued chance of scattered thunderstorms.
