In a shocking incident in Jharkhand, a 25-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh allegedly pushed his wife off a moving train on Friday. The woman miraculously survived the fall and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.
The incident occurred on the Varanasi Express, as the couple was traveling from Barkakana to Varanasi. According to police reports, the husband pushed his wife off the train between the Bhurkunda and Patratu railway stations, which fall under the East Central Railway division.
Fortunately, the woman landed in a water-filled ditch, which helped cushion her fall and likely saved her life. Despite this, she sustained injuries and was spotted by a railway lineman. The lineman promptly alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Patratu, who rescued her and admitted her to a local government hospital. Doctors at the hospital then referred her to RIMS in Ranchi for further treatment.
In her statement to the police, the victim, Khushboo Kumari, who is from Devaria in Uttar Pradesh, alleged that her husband intentionally pushed her off the train in an attempt to make it look like an accident. Khushboo stated that she and her husband had been married for a year. She credited her survival to divine intervention, saying she survived "by the grace of God".
Manohar Barla, the Officer-in-Charge of GRP of Barkakana, has confirmed that an investigation is underway. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings. The husband is currently accused of attempted murder.
