The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction was filled with excitement, especially for relatives of famous Indian cricketers. Aaryavir Sehwag, son of Virender Sehwag, and Aryaveer Kohli, nephew of Virat Kohli, were among the players up for grabs. The auction saw contrasting outcomes for the two sons of Virender Sehwag, Aaryavir and Vedant. Aaryavir was bought by Central Delhi Kings for a significant amount of INR 8 lakh, while Vedant, unfortunately, went unsold. In contrast, Virat Kohli's nephew, Aryaveer, was picked up by South Delhi Superstarz for INR 1 lakh.

Aaryavir, who plays for Delhi's U-19 team, has been recognized for his batting prowess. In 2024, he narrowly missed a triple century, scoring 297 against Meghalaya. His younger brother, Vedant, an off-spinner, has also played junior cricket for Delhi. Vedant's name was announced first in the auction, but he didn't receive any bids.

Aryaveer Kohli, a leg-spinner, trains under Rajkumar Sharma, who was also Virat Kohli's childhood coach. He was placed in Category C, having been a registered player for Delhi Under-16s last season.

Simarjeet Singh, a right-arm pacer who was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, became the most expensive player at the DPL 2025 auction. Central Delhi Kings acquired him for INR 39 lakh. Digvesh Rathi, who played for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, was the second-highest purchase, going to South Delhi Superstarz for INR 38 lakh. Nitish Rana was bought by West Delhi Lions for INR 34 lakh, while Ishant Sharma joined the same team for INR 13 lakh.

Several other players were retained or acquired by the teams. Rishabh Pant was retained by Purani Dilli, while Harshit Rana was retained by North Delhi Strikers. Ayush Badoni was retained by South Delhi Superstarz, and Anuj Rawat was retained by East Delhi Riders. The two new franchises, Outer Delhi Warriors and New Delhi Tigers, retained Priyansh Arya and Himmat Singh, respectively.

The DPL 2025 auction included players divided into three categories: Category A for experienced players, Category B for Under-23 and U-19 players, and Category C for emerging talents under 16. Each team had a purse of INR 1.5 crore for the auction.

The Delhi Premier League is expanding to eight teams this year, with the addition of Outer Delhi Warriors and New Delhi Tigers. The league has gained attention for providing a platform for talented players to showcase their skills and potentially move on to the Indian Premier League.
