A daring sequence of events unfolded in Delhi's Press Enclave Society on July 7, 2025, when a routine security check led to a dramatic chase. At approximately 3:27 p.m., security guards stopped a man riding a bike at the society's entry gate for a standard verification.
Pravakar Tamang, one of the security guards, recognized the man from CCTV footage of previous inverter thefts in the residential colony. According to Pravakar, he had a strong feeling that he had seen the man before in connection with prior inverter thefts, but he wasn't completely sure. To confirm his suspicions, Pravakar inquired about the man's destination. The man provided an address that did not exist within the society and claimed to have visited the same house two or three days prior. This discrepancy raised a red flag for the security guard.
As Pravakar attempted to detain the man, a vehicle approached the gate from inside the society. The guards briefly opened the barricade to allow the vehicle to pass. Sensing an opportunity, the man seized the moment and attempted to flee. Pravakar and another guard, Pratik Tamang, acted swiftly to stop him, but the suspect abandoned his bike and an inverter he was carrying and escaped on foot.
Video footage from the Press Enclave security head shows Pravakar and Pratik Tamang attempting to apprehend the man. Both Pravakar and Pratik Tamang are from Darjeeling (Mirik) in West Bengal and are employed by IPRA Security Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Residents of Press Enclave have lauded the guards for their quick thinking and vigilance.
Following the incident, the police were immediately notified, and an investigation is currently underway. This is not the first time thieves have been caught in Delhi. In January 2025, residents of Delhi threw a birthday party for a thief before handing him over to the police. In June 2024, thieves stole a car with two children inside and demanded ₹50 lakh ransom. They abandoned the vehicle after a police chase.
