With the 51st overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, the Boston Bruins selected center William Moore from the USA National Team Development Program (USNTDP). While it remains to be seen how his career will unfold, early indications suggest that the Bruins may have found a draft steal in the young forward.

Moore, born on March 24, 2007, is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States. Growing up in Mississauga, Ontario, he played in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), a highly competitive youth hockey league. In 2023, Moore was drafted by the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection, but he chose to play for the USNTDP to maintain his NCAA eligibility. He is committed to Boston College in the fall along with five other Bruins prospects.

In the 2024-2025 season, Moore showcased his talent with the USNTDP, scoring 27 goals and 32 assists for 59 points in 56 games. He also played 21 games in the United States Hockey League (USHL), tallying 10 goals and 11 assists. Furthermore, he recorded 11 points in seven games for Team USA in the 2025 World Junior Championship U18 tournament.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 174 pounds, Moore is a left-shot center with good size. He is known for his hockey intelligence, vision, and playmaking abilities. Moore excels at reading the ice, making accurate passes, and creating scoring chances for his teammates. While his skating and physicality are areas for further development, scouts appreciate his two-way potential and willingness to contribute in all situations, including penalty killing. He possesses a solid shot and a knack for being around the net. Moore is also aggressive and disruptive, capable of forcing turnovers.

Notably, Moore is not only a talented hockey player but also a skilled pianist. He won the Little Mozarts International Competition and performed at Carnegie Hall at the age of 10. He enjoys playing Beethoven and Chopin, using the piano as a way to relieve stress.

Some scouts describe Moore as a player who "does a bit of everything, from high-end plays right down to the finest details". They note his ability to manipulate defenders with crossover rushes, deliver look-off passes, crash the net, and excel in possession. While he may not be the flashiest player, he is known as someone who can play a role and get the job done. He is not afraid to use his size and strength to outmuscle opponents and spends a lot of time around the net at both ends of the ice.
