The Milwaukee Brewers have navigated a dynamic 2025 season, marked by strategic roster moves, unfortunate injuries, and the exciting debut of a top prospect. As of July 8, 2025, here's an updated look at the team's roster situation.

Recent Transactions

The Brewers have been actively adjusting their roster to optimize performance and address areas of need. A notable move included selecting the contract of right-handed pitcher Jacob Misiorowski from Triple-A Nashville. Misiorowski, a highly regarded pitching prospect, has impressed with a 2.58 ERA and 67 strikeouts in just over 45 innings for the Nashville Sounds. His fastball has been clocked at over 100 mph, and he's developing his slider and changeup. The Brewers plan to keep Misiorowski in the starting rotation.

To create space for Misiorowski, Brandon Woodruff was placed on the 60-day injured list as he continues to recover from right shoulder surgery. Additionally, right-hander Easton McGee was optioned to Triple-A Nashville.

More recently, on July 7, first baseman Rhys Hoskins was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left thumb. Correspondingly, first baseman Andrew Vaughn was recalled from the Nashville Sounds. On July 6, center fielder Garrett Mitchell was placed on the 60-day injured list due to a left oblique strain, and right-hander Brandon Woodruff was activated from the 60-day injured list. Other transactions include optioning right-hander Chad Patrick to Nashville.

Impact of Injuries

Injuries have significantly impacted the Brewers' roster, particularly the pitching staff. Several key players are currently on the injured list.

  • Rhys Hoskins: Placed on the 10-day IL with a left thumb sprain, expected to return in late August.
  • Garrett Mitchell: Transferred to the 60-day IL with a left oblique strain.
  • Nestor Cortes: Transferred to the 60-day IL with a left elbow flexor strain.
  • Rob Zastryzny: Placed on the 15-day IL with a ribs stress reaction.
  • Brandon Woodruff: Recovering from right shoulder surgery, with his return expected in late summer.
  • Robert Gasser: Recovering from Tommy John surgery, with a potential return in late 2025.
  • Blake Perkins: Transferred to the 60-day IL with a lower leg fracture.

These injuries have forced the Brewers to rely on their depth and call up prospects to fill the gaps.

Prospect Pipeline

Despite the injury setbacks, the Brewers' farm system remains a source of talent. Jacob Misiorowski's promotion highlights the organization's commitment to developing and promoting promising players. Other top prospects in the Brewers' system include:

  • Jesus Made (SS): A DSL standout with impressive hitting abilities and defensive versatility.
  • Cooper Pratt (SS): A highly regarded shortstop prospect.
  • Jeferson Quero (C): A promising catching prospect.
  • Logan Henderson (RHP): Nearing graduation to the major league roster as a starting pitcher.

Trade Rumors and Potential Moves

As the trade deadline approaches, there is speculation about potential trades involving the Brewers. While some analysts believe the Brewers might consider trading starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, others argue that the team should focus on contending, especially given their proximity to the top of the NL Central. Recent trades include Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles and Devin Williams to the New York Yankees. The Brewers acquired Joey Ortiz and DL Hall in the Burnes deal.
