Luis Enrique has responded to accusations following Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) resounding 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Club World Cup semi-final. The PSG coach defended Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso from potential criticism.

The match, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, saw PSG dominate from the outset. Fabian Ruiz scored twice in the first half, with Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos adding to the scoreline. PSG's performance has been described as a "stunning" demolition of Real Madrid.

Following the game, Luis Enrique was asked in a DAZN interview how PSG could be stopped. With a grin, he responded, "Are your children tired of playing?" This was interpreted as a cheeky nod to his side's dominance and enjoyment on the pitch.

Enrique also emphasized the importance of his players enjoying themselves and the fans enjoying the team's style of play. He highlighted PSG's dominance and possession-based approach, making it difficult for opponents.

In response to questions about the result reflecting the gap between the two sides, Luis Enrique asked for patience with Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid. He noted that Alonso needed time to work and have a preseason. Enrique pointed out that his project at PSG has been ongoing for two seasons, while Alonso's team is just starting out. He stated that the scoreline was the most important thing but that the situations were incomparable.

Luis Enrique has been managing PSG since July 2023. Since his arrival, he has overseen a significant transformation of the team. He transitioned the team from one of aging stars to one of the most exciting attacking sides in Europe. He is known for his demanding, direct, and methodical management style. Enrique's approach involves establishing a clear framework with maximum expectations, respect for the rules, and prioritizing the collective over individual.

PSG will face Chelsea in the Club World Cup final. Following the win against Real Madrid, Luis Enrique rewarded his players with a day off.
