Upper Deck has launched a new line of trading cards that merges the worlds of hockey and DC Super Heroes. The collection, titled 2025 DC Fanimation Crossover, is available for a limited time exclusively through the Upper Deck e-Pack online platform.

The second installment of this series highlights hockey legends Wayne Gretzky and Connor McDavid, with artwork inspired by the upcoming DC Studios film "Superman". These cards are scheduled for release in mid-July, coinciding with the film's theatrical debut on July 11th. The cards featuring Gretzky and McDavid are part of the DC NHL Crossover: NHL Icons Edition and will be available until July 24th.

This crossover features original Superman-themed art of Edmonton Oilers legend Wayne Gretzky and current star Connor McDavid, incorporating imagery from the "Superman" film. The base set includes four cards: Wayne Gretzky, Connor McDavid, Superman, and Superman & Krypto.

Upper Deck is offering packs in its e-Pack store until July 24, 2025. Each one-card pack contains one of the four base set cards. Collectors can also look out for special Silver Parallels (1:10), Gold Parallels (1:25), Artist Autograph Parallels (1:150) by Eric Cash, and Canvas Autograph Parallels (1:1500) with hard-signed autographs from Wayne Gretzky or Connor McDavid, which appear as bonus second cards in select packs. These cards will be available in the Upper Deck e-Pack® Store for one week and will be available to ship home approximately 8-12 weeks after the card is released.

Collectors who acquire a complete 4-card Base Set and elect to redeem it will receive one randomly awarded Canvas Parallel Achievement card. There are also 4-Card Canvas Silver Parallel Achievement Sets and 4-Card Canvas Gold Parallel Achievement Sets.

The initial series of the 2025 DC Fanimation Crossover features five top NHL draft prospects depicted in dynamic, comic book-style artwork inspired by legendary DC characters. Matthew Schaefer is portrayed as Superman, Michael Misa as Batman, James Hagens as The Flash, Porter Martone as Green Lantern, and Caleb Desnoyers as Nightwing. These cards represent the start of an ambitious crossover initiative planned by Upper Deck throughout 2025.

Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck, emphasizes the company's commitment to offering collectors unique and innovative collectibles. He notes the desire to unite sports and entertainment fans, highlighting the revival of the iconic Fanimation insert with a fresh twist by combining future NHL stars and the DC Universe.

Fans can purchase the 2025 DC Fanimation Crossover cards for $5.99 per pack until July 7th through Upper Deck's e-Pack platform. The cards will be offered digitally and then printed for shipping within 8-10 weeks. Collectors can also explore autographed prints, pucks, and jerseys from Schaefer, Misa, and Hagens, as well as other DC trading cards, at the Upper Deck Store. New trading cards and memorabilia releases will follow each player's official NHL debut.
