In a chilling confession following the alleged murder of his 25-year-old daughter, Radhika Yadav, Deepak Yadav reportedly told his brother, Vijay, that he should be hanged for his actions. The tennis player's father is accused of shooting her dead in their Gurugram home.

According to Vijay Yadav, Deepak called him immediately after the incident, stating, "Brother, I have committed Kanya Vadh (killing of a woman). Kill me now". He did not provide a specific reason but claimed his mind was not in the right place. Vijay also recounted that Deepak expressed the same sentiment at the police station, urging them to "write the FIR in such a way that I am hanged".

The tragic event occurred on Thursday morning at their residence in Wazirabad, Gurugram. Around 10:30 am, Deepak allegedly shot Radhika four times in the back with his licensed pistol while she was in the kitchen. Radhika's uncle, Kuldeep, who lives on the ground floor of the same house, heard the gunshots and rushed upstairs, only to find Radhika in a pool of blood. She was rushed to a private hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The postmortem report indicated that Radhika sustained three bullets to the back and one to the shoulder.

Following the incident, Deepak Yadav was arrested and has been sent to 14-days judicial custody. The police investigation is ongoing, with authorities questioning Radhika's mother, who was reportedly present during the shooting.

Reports suggest that Deepak was allegedly troubled by Radhika's success as an independent tennis coach. She earned a good income teaching at various locations, which led to locals taunting Deepak for supposedly living off her earnings. According to police, Deepak objected to Radhika training young tennis players, which was a point of contention between them. Some reports indicate that Deepak felt societal pressure and disapproved of his daughter earning money through coaching. A friend of Deepak told the police that he was disturbed by comments about him living off his daughter's income and felt he had "committed a sin".

However, other family members reject this motive. Rajesh, another brother of Deepak, stated that Deepak had invested heavily in Radhika's career. He said, “Deepak had given everything to her (Radhika's) career… spent all that was necessary. We do not know how this has happened". Radhika's uncle, Raj Kumar, also shared that Deepak was always supportive of Radhika and spent a lot of money on her tennis training. Vijay Yadav also mentioned that Deepak dedicated a lot of time to Radhika's career, making the incident even more baffling. Relatives have described Deepak as never being short-tempered or violent.

The family has also refuted rumors that objections to a love affair were behind the killing. They stated they are not against inter-caste marriages. The police are also dismissing other potential factors, such as a music video Radhika appeared in.
