Barmer, Rajasthan – In a heartening display of commitment to public health and welfare, Barmer District Collector Tina Dabi visited the home of a Tuberculosis (TB) patient on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, to personally deliver a nutrition kit and offer assurance of support. This initiative is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's TB-Free India campaign, which is gaining momentum across the nation.
Collector Dabi, along with other administrative officers, participated in a unique program where "Nikshay Mitras" (Friends of Nikshay, a TB program) distributed nutritious food kits to TB patients at their homes. The initiative aims to provide essential nutritional support to those battling the disease, recognizing that proper nutrition is crucial for recovery and overall well-being.
Tina Dabi has been a driving force in encouraging administrative officials, employees, and other prominent citizens of Barmer to become Nikshay Mitras. These "friends" commit to providing continuous support to TB patients, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to combat the illness. Besides nutritional aid, the Nikshay Mitras also help TB patients access medical facilities, regular check-ups, and expert advice from medical professionals through the medical department.
The District Collector's personal involvement underscores the administration's dedication to eradicating TB from the region by 2025, in line with the national TB-Free India campaign. This initiative includes providing medical facilities, regular checkups and consultations with specialists through the medical department to the patients.
The distribution of nutrition kits includes essential items such as pulses, soybeans, and oil, providing extra support for the patients undergoing treatment. The Nikshay Mitra scheme ensures that each patient is linked to a support system that provides not only nutritional assistance but also emotional and moral support throughout their treatment.
Collector Dabi's proactive approach and hands-on involvement have been widely appreciated by the community. By visiting patients' homes and directly providing assistance, she has not only addressed their immediate needs but also instilled a sense of hope and confidence in the public healthcare system. This personal touch strengthens the bond between the administration and the citizens, fostering a collaborative effort towards achieving a TB-free Barmer.
The initiative also highlights the importance of community participation in public health programs. By encouraging officials and citizens to become Nikshay Mitras, the Barmer administration is creating a network of support that extends beyond the healthcare system, ensuring that TB patients receive holistic care and attention. This approach is crucial for addressing the social and economic factors that contribute to the spread of TB and for ensuring the long-term success of the TB-Free India campaign.
In addition to the Nikshay Mitra initiative, the Barmer administration is also focused on improving healthcare infrastructure and services in the district. Efforts are underway to strengthen diagnostic facilities, ensure the availability of quality TB medication, and raise awareness about TB prevention and treatment. These comprehensive measures are essential for achieving the goal of a TB-free Barmer by 2025 and for improving the overall health and well-being of the community.
