On July 13, 2025, a convoy of buses transporting Amarnath pilgrims was involved in an accident in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in injuries to at least 10 pilgrims. The incident occurred near the Tachloo crossing in the Khudwani area along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway when three buses collided with each other. The buses were en route to Baltal.
Following the collision, local authorities and medical personnel responded swiftly to provide assistance. Around nine of the injured pilgrims were initially treated at a nearby medical facility. Subsequently, they were transferred to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag for more comprehensive care. Medical officials have confirmed that all the injured individuals sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition.
The local administration and traffic police are currently investigating the cause of the accident. They are also working to ensure the smooth movement of Yatra convoys along the highway. Authorities have urged transport operators to maintain safe distances and strictly adhere to convoy protocols to prevent similar incidents.
Despite the disruption caused by the accident, the Amarnath Yatra has resumed with increased safety measures. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
A similar incident occurred last week when 36 pilgrims sustained minor injuries in Ramban district after five buses bound for Pahalgam collided.
