Sydney Sweeney, the 27-year-old actress known for her roles in "Euphoria" and "The White Lotus," is reportedly in talks to become the next Bond girl. According to sources, she is the top choice for director Denis Villeneuve for the upcoming James Bond film.

Villeneuve, who was recently announced as the director of the next Bond film, is said to be a close friend of Sweeney's and believes she is "hugely talented". He also sees her appeal to younger generations as vital in modernizing the franchise. An insider revealed that Villeneuve admires Sweeney's "stratospheric rise" and that they have spent a lot of time together.

Sweeney also has the backing of Jeff Bezos, the head of Amazon, which recently gained creative control over the Bond franchise.

Sweeney's ability to perform physical scenes is another factor in her favor. The actress recently transformed her physique for her role as boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic, engaging in regular weightlifting and kickboxing. A source stated that Sweeney possesses the qualities of being athletic and feminine, fitting the legacy of Bond girls.

The James Bond franchise is undergoing a significant transition, with a new actor set to take on the role of 007 following Daniel Craig's departure after the 2021 film "No Time To Die". With Villeneuve directing and a new Bond girl potentially on board, the franchise is looking to honor its traditions while also opening the path for new missions.

The news of Sweeney's potential casting comes amid speculation about who will perform the theme song for the next James Bond film. Musician Raye is currently the frontrunner.
