A tragic road accident in the Dindori taluka of Nashik district has claimed the lives of seven people, including three women, three men, and a two-year-old child. The collision between an Alto car and a motorcycle occurred on the Vani Road, near the Krushi Utpanna Bazar Samiti, sending shockwaves through the region.
The deceased have been identified as residents of Koshimbe, Devthan, and Sarsale. They are Devidas Pandit Gangurde (28), Manisha Devidas Gangurde (23), Uttam Eknath Jadhav (42), Alka Uttam Jadhav (38), Dattatraya Namdev Waghmare (45), Anusaya Dattatraya Waghmare (40), and Bhavesh Devidas Gangurde (2). Mangesh Yashwant Kurghade (25) and Ajay Jagannath Gond (18) sustained injuries in the accident and are currently receiving treatment at Nashik District Hospital.
According to reports, the Gangurde family was traveling in the Alto car to Nashik to celebrate the birthday of a relative's child. The accident occurred as they were returning to Sarsale in Dindori. The Alto car collided head-on with a motorcycle. The impact was so severe that the car's windshield shattered, and the vehicle overturned into a roadside water canal. Preliminary investigations suggest that the occupants were unable to escape, and tragically drowned.
Upon receiving news of the accident, former corporator Kailas Mawal rushed to the scene to console the grieving families. The Dindori police are currently investigating the matter.
In a separate incident in Nashik, a 24-year-old bike rider identified as Joy Nikalje, lost his life in the Datta Mandir area of Nashik Road after being hit by a container truck. Nikalje was taking a U-turn when the truck collided with him, causing severe head injuries. His cousin, who was a pillion passenger, sustained injuries. The truck driver fled the scene and is currently being sought by the police.
Another recent accident involved a speeding pickup truck and a motorcycle near Jamgaon in Barshi taluka, resulting in the death of a young man named Sachin Nana Kevte. The pickup driver has been booked, and police are investigating the incident. Additionally, a tragic accident in Nashik occurred when a speeding pickup truck collided with a brother and sister on a two-wheeler. 23-year-old Jayashree Sonawane died at the scene, and her brother, Sumit, was critically injured.
