Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Motihari, Bihar today, July 18, 2025, to launch and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹7,200 crore. The projects span across key sectors, including railways, roads, rural development, fisheries, electronics, and information technology.

The Prime Minister will dedicate multiple rail projects to the nation, including the automatic signalling between the Samastipur-Bachhwara rail line. This upgrade will enable efficient train operations in this section. Additionally, he will launch the doubling of the Darbhanga-Thalwara and Samastipur-Rambhadrapur rail lines, which is part of the Darbhanga-Samastipur doubling project worth over ₹580 crore. This will enhance the capacity of train operations and reduce delays. Furthermore, the foundation stone will be laid for the infrastructure development for the maintenance of Vande Bharat trains at Patliputra and the doubling of the Darbhanga–Narkatiaganj line, with an investment of ₹4,080 crore. The latter is expected to increase sectional capacity, enabling the operation of more passenger and freight trains and strengthening connectivity between North Bihar and the rest of the country.

In terms of road infrastructure, the Prime Minister will launch and inaugurate several national highway projects to improve freight and passenger movement. This includes the four-laning of the Ara Bypass and the Parariya–Mohania section of NH-319, worth ₹820 crore. These projects will improve access to the Delhi-Kolkata Golden Quadrilateral corridor. Additionally, he will inaugurate a two-lane link road between Sarwan and Chakai on NH-333C, which connects Bihar and Jharkhand.

To support startups and digital innovation, PM Modi will inaugurate new Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) facilities in Darbhanga and Patna. These facilities will promote the IT/ITES/ESDM industry and startups, boost IT software and service exports, nurture the tech startup ecosystem, encourage innovation and IPR, and promote product development.

In a move to strengthen the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Bihar, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a series of fisheries development projects sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). This includes new fish hatcheries, biofloc units, ornamental fish farming, integrated aquaculture units, and fish feed mills across various districts. These aquaculture projects will help generate employment opportunities, enhance fish production, promote entrepreneurship, and accelerate socio-economic development in rural areas.

Furthermore, the PM will launch fisheries projects under PMMSY, distribute ₹400 crore to Self-Help Groups, and release housing support for over 52,000 rural beneficiaries. Specifically, he will release ₹400 crore to over 61,000 Self-Help Groups under DAY-NRLM and conduct a Griha Pravesh ceremony for 12,000 housing beneficiaries, releasing ₹160 crore for 40,000 recipients under PMAY-Gramin.

In addition to the development projects, the Prime Minister will flag off four new Amrit Bharat trains to improve regional rail connectivity. These trains will connect Rajendra Nagar (Patna) to New Delhi, Bapudham Motihari to Anand Vihar (Delhi), Darbhanga to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar), and Malda Town to Lucknow via Bhagalpur.

The Prime Minister will also address a public meeting at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari.
