Omprakash, who was previously the Bikaner Range IG, has been appointed as the new Jodhpur Police Commissioner. Rahul Prakash has been appointed as the new IG in the Jaipur Range. The changes in the police department are considered significant in view of the upcoming local body and Panchayat elections. The government has also transferred Gaurav Srivastava, IG of the Chief Minister's security, and made him the new IG of Udaipur Range. The reshuffle aims to streamline governance and inject fresh energy into the administration.
IAS Transfers Along with the IPS officers, the state government also transferred 12 IAS officers. This follows a previous reshuffle last month where 62 IAS officers were transferred, including eight Additional Chief Secretaries and 11 district collectors. In the previous reshuffle, Akhil Arora, who was the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS)-Finance, was transferred and appointed as ACS in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). Aparna Arora was moved from the Forest Department to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department as ACS. Kuldeep Ranka was assigned the role of ACS, Higher and Technical Education. Significance of the Reshuffle The recent changes are seen as a major bureaucratic shake-up, with the government attempting to streamline governance and give key responsibilities to officers. The reshuffle is also viewed in light of the upcoming local and Panchayat elections. With the appointment of the new DGP, Rajiv Kumar Sharma, the transfer list indicates the government's focus on key areas. The extensive changes reflect the government's intent to improve administration and address public grievances effectively.
