Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has resumed his official duties from the hospital, where he was admitted on Monday after experiencing mild giddiness during his routine morning walk. Despite being under medical observation at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, the 72-year-old leader is actively overseeing government affairs.
Doctors advised Stalin to rest for three days while undergoing diagnostic tests. However, demonstrating his commitment to governance, the Chief Minister chose to continue discharging his duties from the hospital. He has been interacting with senior officials, reviewing key welfare initiatives, and clearing important files.
One of Stalin's primary focuses has been the 'Ungaludan Stalin' (Stalin with you) scheme, a public outreach program designed to address citizen grievances. Launched earlier in July, the initiative involves special camps set up in various neighborhoods to facilitate direct interaction between the government and the people. As of July 22, over 574,674 petitions had been received through these camps.
From his hospital bed, Stalin reviewed the arrangements for these camps via video conference. He spoke with District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar in Coimbatore, who was at a camp in Ward 7, Rajalakshmi Marriage Hall. The Collector informed the Chief Minister that the highest number of petitions received pertained to the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, followed by requests for patta services. Stalin instructed officials to ensure swift and effective resolution of grievances and to conduct the camps as scheduled, providing adequate amenities for attendees. He also emphasized that there should be no slackness in addressing issues highlighted in the petitions.
In a social media post, Stalin reassured the public of his continued engagement, stating that he inquired about the '#WithYou_Stalin' camps from district collectors and the public and signed government files while in the hospital. He added that he would soon visit the districts to meet with the people after the doctors advised rest.
Health Minister Ma. Subramanian visited Stalin in the hospital and assured the public that the Chief Minister was recovering well. He mentioned that Stalin had been emotionally affected by the recent passing of his elder brother, Muthu, and had spent an entire day at the funeral without eating. Following a morning walk, Stalin experienced dizziness, which prompted the medical evaluation.
Sources from the DMK stated that the Chief Minister's condition was stable. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to CM Stalin over the phone and inquired about his health.
Despite his hospitalization, Stalin's active involvement in government affairs has boosted the morale of the bureaucracy and his party workers. The Chief Minister's office has indicated that he will resume his district visits to personally oversee the implementation of government programs and interact with the people as soon as doctors give him the go-ahead.
