Following a tragic air crash in Dhaka, India has extended medical support to Bangladesh by dispatching a specialized burn treatment team to assist the victims. The team arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday night, July 23, 2025, and is scheduled to begin work on Thursday at a designated hospital.
The team comprises two specialists and a nursing assistant from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital, both premier burn treatment centers in India. Additional medical experts may also be deployed based on the preliminary assessment and treatment requirements.
The Bangladesh Air Force F-7 fighter jet crashed on July 21, 2025, into the Milestone School and College campus in the Diabari area of Dhaka. The incident has resulted in a devastating loss of life and injuries, with reports indicating at least 29 fatalities and 69 others injured. Many victims were students, teachers, first responders, and civilians. Doctors in Dhaka have expressed concern that the death toll may rise, as at least 25 of the injured are in critical condition with severe burn injuries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow and shock over the tragic crash and assured Bangladesh of India's support and assistance. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has confirmed the arrival of the medical team, reiterating that the doctors are from specialized burn units in New Delhi.
