A brazen daylight robbery has occurred at a jewellery store in Bengaluru, with three masked men making off with a significant quantity of gold ornaments. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, took place at Ram Jewellers, located near Machohalli Gate on Magadi Road, within the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli police station.
The robbery occurred around 9 pm on Thursday, as the owner, Kanhaiahlal, and his staff were preparing to close the shop for the day. The three masked individuals, armed with a pistol, stormed into the store, creating a frightening scene. They threatened Kanhaiahlal and his staff at gunpoint, demanding the gold ornaments that were on display.
According to Kanhaiahlal, the robbers barged in as the staff were putting away the gold ornaments. The masked men attacked them while pointing guns. Understandably frightened, the owner and staff were helpless as the robbers seized the gold. When Kanhaiahlal resisted, the robbers pushed him and his staff aside. A nearby shop employee who heard the commotion and attempted to intervene was also pushed aside.
The entire ordeal unfolded rapidly, with the robbers completing their heist in a mere 18 seconds. CCTV footage shows the masked men forcing their way into the store, brandishing their weapons, and grabbing ornaments from the display counter. Despite being shoved aside, Kanhaiahlal shouted for help, alerting nearby shopkeepers, but the robbers managed to escape before anyone could assist. The gang escaped with approximately 185 grams of gold.
Following the robbery, Kanhaiahlal immediately contacted the police, who promptly arrived at the scene. He filed a complaint at the Madanayakanahalli police station, expressing his hope that the stolen gold would be recovered. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation, utilizing the CCTV footage to track down the accused.
Authorities are taking the incident seriously and are exploring all possible leads to apprehend the culprits. The Madanayakanahalli police are working diligently to analyze the CCTV footage and gather eyewitness accounts to identify and locate the suspects.
This incident is not isolated, as there have been other recent instances of jewellery store robberies in and around Bengaluru. In June 2024, three masked men robbed a jewellery shop in Madanayakanahalli, near Nelamangala, making off with over 500 grams of gold ornaments worth more than Rs 32 lakh. In another incident, two masked men robbed a jewellery shop on Bengaluru's northern outskirts, escaping with Rs 50 lakh worth of gold in just 32 seconds.
These repeated incidents raise concerns about the security of jewellery stores in the region and the need for enhanced measures to prevent such crimes. The police are urging jewellery store owners to install high-quality CCTV systems, employ security personnel, and implement other security protocols to deter potential robbers.
The recent robbery at Ram Jewellers has left the owner and staff shaken. The brazen nature of the crime and the use of firearms have instilled fear in the community. However, authorities are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety and security of businesses and residents in Bengaluru.
