VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially entered the Indian market with the inauguration of its first showroom in Surat, Gujarat. This move follows Tesla's recent debut in India, signaling a growing interest and competition in the nation's burgeoning EV sector.

The new VinFast showroom, located in the Piplod area of Surat, spans 3,000 square feet and will showcase the company's upcoming range of premium electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7. Notably, India is the first market where VinFast is launching right-hand drive versions of the VF 6 and VF 7. Pre-bookings for these models commenced on July 15, 2025, with a fully refundable deposit of ₹21,000. Customers can reserve their vehicle at the showroom or through VinFast's official website.

VinFast has ambitious plans for expansion in India, aiming to launch 35 dealerships across more than 27 cities by the end of 2025. The company's CEO for Asia, Pham Sanh Chau, stated that the Surat showroom symbolizes VinFast's deep commitment to India. He expressed excitement about bringing the VinFast experience to Indian consumers, with the goal of offering not just electric vehicles, but a complete ownership journey built on quality, trust, and service excellence.

The vehicles will be locally assembled at VinFast's upcoming manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, with the plant's inauguration planned for August 4. This reinforces VinFast's long-term vision of India as a strategic market and a future hub for electric vehicle production. The company is investing $2 billion in this manufacturing unit.

To support its entry into the Indian market, VinFast has established strategic partnerships to create a comprehensive EV ecosystem. These partnerships include collaborations with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to establish a nationwide network for charging infrastructure and after-sales services. VinFast has also partnered with BatX Energies, an Indian clean-tech company, to promote battery recycling and develop a circular battery value chain. These initiatives align with VinFast's commitment to sustainability and a greener future through responsible innovation.

VinFast's entry into India is a significant step in the company's global expansion strategy, tapping into the rapidly growing Indian electric vehicle market. The company's focus on local assembly, building a strong dealer network, and establishing partnerships for charging and after-sales services demonstrates its commitment to providing a premium EV experience for Indian customers. With the introduction of right-hand drive models and a focus on sustainability, VinFast aims to be a key player in India's electric mobility revolution.
