Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir has extended support to the family of the late Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, who was the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri. Dr. Thapa tragically lost his life in an unprovoked shelling incident by Pakistani forces.
In a gesture of solidarity, LG Sinha met with Dr. Thapa's daughter, Mareesa Thapa, and his wife, Smt. Meenakshi Kundan Thapa. During the meeting, which took place at Raj Bhawan, LG Sinha handed over a formal assurance letter to Mareesa, guaranteeing her a government job as an Assistant Law Officer upon completing her education. Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, was also present at the occasion.
LG Sinha expressed his heartfelt condolences and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to providing comprehensive support to the families of those who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty. He emphasized that the government stands firmly with them during their time of grief and beyond.
Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa's death was widely mourned throughout the Union Territory, with many people remembering his dedication to public service and his contributions to the development of the border district of Rajouri. Thapa was among 28 people killed in artillery shelling, missile, and drone strikes by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor between May 7 and 10.
