Pamela Anderson is making waves as she discusses her role as Beth Davenport in the upcoming reboot of the classic comedy, The Naked Gun. The film, which is set to release in theaters soon, stars Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Deblin Jr., the son of the original detective, alongside Anderson as his sharp-tongued partner. Anderson's character is a femme fatale who pays homage to Priscilla Presley's role in the original films.
Anderson emphasizes the depth of her preparation for the role. "I work a lot on the character before I even get to set," she explains. "So I bring a lot with me, and then just be flexible enough to work with the director on the character. Whether it's a drama or a high comedy, I still put the work in". She notes that she and director Akiva Schaffer had in-depth conversations about Beth's backstory, which greatly aided in fine-tuning her performance.
When asked about her goals for the character, Anderson stated, "I really wanted to bring honesty and authenticity to the character, and vulnerability". She also commented on Schaffer's directing style, "Akiva is very scientific with the jokes... So it was a collaboration. But I see some very sincere and tender moments, which I don't think you'd expect in a film like this".
Anderson also spoke about working with Liam Neeson. She admitted to being intimidated initially, knowing Neeson's incredible career. However, she quickly found him to be a generous and supportive co-star. "Once we got going I mean he's such a gentleman he's such a sweetheart and he's so giving and generous and was so complimentary and supportive," she said.
The actress expressed her excitement about returning to comedy after recent dramatic roles. She feels that the world needs a good laugh right now and that The Naked Gun reboot will deliver just that. She is also a big supporter of going to the theater, believing that any movie is best seen on a big screen. She encourages audiences to see the film's mayhem on the big screen.
Akiva Schaffer directs the film from a screenplay by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. The film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston in key roles. The Naked Gun is set to release in Indian theatres on August 1, 2025.
