On Wednesday, RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav made a dramatic plea for euthanasia during a court appearance in Patna. The Danapur MLA, facing a series of legal cases, emotionally appealed to the judge, stating he was "fed up" with the mounting charges against him and felt helpless.

Appearing before the MP/MLA court of district and additional sessions judge-III-cum-special judge, Akshay Kumar Singh, Yadav pleaded, "Sir, please grant me euthanasia. Cases after case is being filed against me". According to Indo-Asian News Service, he stood with folded hands for 45 minutes, crying in front of the judge. He also requested a transfer from Bhagalpur Camp Jail back to Beur Central Jail in Patna, expressing feeling isolated and lacking support in Bhagalpur. "There is no one to plead for me here (Bhagalpur). I am tired. I have no support system here. Please transfer me back to Beur," he said.

Yadav is currently lodged in Bhagalpur Central Jail, having been moved there on May 1, 2025, from Beur Jail in Patna. The transfer occurred because authorities suspected he was continuing to meet with associates and potentially orchestrate criminal activities from within Beur Jail. Prior to his transfer, Yadav had been held in a high-security T-cell, previously occupied by Anant Singh, a don-turned-politician who is now in Beur Jail.

The MLA had surrendered to the Danapur court on April 17, 2025, in connection with an extortion case involving allegations of demanding ₹50 lakh from a builder. Following his surrender, police raided 11 of Yadav's locations on April 11, allegedly recovering ₹10.5 lakh in cash, blank checks worth ₹77 lakh, four pen drives, and various land-related documents.

Adding to Yadav's woes, a separate controversy has emerged involving his wife, Rinku Devi. Rinku Devi, a "niyojit" teacher at Kothwa Mushari Vidyalaya in Patna district, is accused of violating service conduct rules by being a partner in a construction company while employed by the Bihar government. ADG (headquarters) Kundan Krishnan has reportedly requested the additional chief secretary of the education department, S Siddharth, to take action against her. According to sources, Rinku Kumari is a business partner in Vijay Construction since November 11, 2017.
