A Kashmir-based Over Ground Worker (OGW) of terrorists has been apprehended in Jammu with arms and ammunition. The arrest was made in the Nagrota area late Tuesday night.
Police intercepted a Srinagar-bound private car at TCP Nagrota, acting on specific intelligence. The search of the vehicle led to the recovery of three pistols of different makes, including Chinese and Turkish models, along with ammunition. The driver, identified as Azan Hamid from Srinagar, was immediately arrested. He is currently being questioned regarding his connections to terror networks.
Authorities believe the arms and ammunition were smuggled across the border and were being transported to Kashmir. The police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Arms Act at the Nagrota Police Station. Further investigation is underway, and more arrests and recoveries are anticipated in connection with the case.
In response to these activities, security forces have intensified their operations against terrorists, OGWs, and terror sympathizers in the region. The army is maintaining a 24/7 vigil on the Line of Control (LoC) to prevent infiltration from across the border into Jammu and Kashmir.
Concurrently, a search operation has been launched in the Rajbagh sector of the Kathua district following reports of suspicious movement. Two individuals dressed in black and carrying backpacks were reportedly seen moving near the Ujh river late Tuesday night. The search operation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
These incidents highlight the persistent efforts by security forces to counter terrorist activities and maintain peace and stability in the Jammu and Kashmir region. The apprehension of the OGW and the ongoing search operation underscore the commitment to thwarting any attempts to disrupt normalcy and prevent the smuggling of arms and ammunition into the region.
