The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its crackdown on the D-Company gang, attaching properties belonging to an operative in connection with a 2015 double murder case in Gujarat. The accused, Mohammad Yunus @ Manjro, is allegedly an aide of Pakistan-based fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
The NIA has attached two immovable properties of Mohammad Yunus, located in Bharuch City, Gujarat. One property is a residential house in Ward No. 3, City Survey No. 3614, with a total area of 143.96 square meters, and the other is in Ward No. 3, City Survey No. 3615, covering 29.59 square meters. The attachment of these properties was carried out under Section 33 (1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act), following orders from the NIA Special Court in Ahmedabad.
Mohammad Yunus @ Manjro was arrested for his involvement in the criminal conspiracy and murder of BJP workers Shirish Bengali and Pragnesh Mistry in November 2015. The NIA's investigation revealed that the murders were part of a larger conspiracy involving the D-Company gang, which operates from Pakistan. The agency believes that these killings were intended to create terror among a section of society.
The NIA views the attachment of these properties as a significant step towards dismantling the terror ecosystem of the D-Company gang. The agency is continuing its investigation to gather more evidence against the accused, including those located in foreign countries.
This is not the first time the D-Company has been linked to violent crimes and terrorism-related activities in India. The group has been implicated in various acts of violence and extortion, and Indian law enforcement agencies have been actively working to dismantle its network. In February 2017, police arrested a sharp-shooter with allegiance to the Dawood Ibrahim gang, along with three others, near Rajkot. They were allegedly en route to assassinate a Jamnagar-based businessman under the direction of Anees Ibrahim, Dawood's brother, who is believed to be in Pakistan.
These actions by the NIA and other law enforcement agencies highlight the ongoing efforts to combat the D-Company's influence and operations in India. By attaching properties and arresting key operatives, authorities aim to disrupt the gang's activities and prevent future acts of violence and terror.
