Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Bengaluru today, August 10, 2025, to inaugurate and dedicate to the nation several significant transportation projects. These projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the city.
A key highlight of the visit is the inauguration of the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, also known as Namma Metro. This 19-kilometer line, built at a cost of approximately ₹7,160 crore under Phase-2 of the metro project, spans 16 stations between RV Road Metro Station and Bommasandra Metro Station. The Yellow Line will connect key residential, commercial, and industrial hubs, significantly benefiting daily commuters. Following the inauguration, the Prime Minister will also take a ride on the metro from RV Road to Electronic City.
In addition to the metro line, PM Modi will flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains from KSR Railway Station. These include services from Bengaluru to Belagavi, Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune. With the addition of these trains, the total number of Vande Bharat trains operating in the country will reach 150. The new Vande Bharat service to Belagavi is particularly anticipated, as it will reduce travel time between the two cities. Karnataka will now have 11 Vande Bharat trains.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the Bangalore Metro project, which is worth over ₹15,610 crore. This phase will add more than 44 kilometers to the metro network, with 31 elevated stations. Once operational, Phase 3 will expand the total metro network in Bengaluru to 220 km, further improving urban mobility. Metro Phase 3 is also known as the Orange Line.
PM Modi's visit comes at a time when the political scene in Karnataka is heating up, with the State legislature set to commence a nine-day Monsoon Session on August 11, 2025.
