A shocking crime has come to light in Karnataka, where a dentist and two accomplices have been arrested for the murder of a 42-year-old woman named Lakshmi Devi. The gruesome details of the case involve the victim being strangled, her body then dismembered into 19 pieces, and the parts disposed of in plastic bags along a road in Kolala village, Koratagere, in the Tumakuru district.
The case unfolded after passersby noticed several plastic bags containing human remains on August 7th. Upon investigation, the Koratagere police discovered seven bags with body parts. A subsequent search on August 8th revealed seven more plastic bags, including one containing the woman's severed head. The head was instrumental in identifying the victim as Lakshmi Devi.
The Superintendent of Police, Ashok K V, formed a special investigation team to track down the culprits. The investigation led to the arrest of Dr. Ramachandrappa S, Lakshmi Devi's son-in-law, who works as a dentist, along with his associates Satish K N and Kiran K S, all residents of Tumakuru. During interrogation, the trio confessed to the murder. They admitted to strangling Lakshmi Devi and dismembering her body in an attempt to destroy evidence, packing the parts into plastic bags, and scattering them at different locations.
According to police reports, the murder occurred on August 4th when Lakshmi Devi was returning home after visiting her daughter. The accused offered her a ride to the bus stand and allegedly strangled her in the car. They then took the body to an arecanut farm belonging to Satish K.N., where they proceeded to chop it up. The body parts were then dumped along the way to Mutyalamma temple in Chimpuganahalli.
Investigators believe that Ramachandrappa harbored suspicions about Lakshmi Devi's character, which he claimed caused him embarrassment. This alleged embarrassment is believed to be the primary motive behind the murder. Reports indicate that Ramachandrappa had frequent fights with his mother-in-law, accusing her of having multiple affairs.
Further investigation revealed that Ramachandrappa had married Lakshmi Devi's daughter after divorcing his first wife. He allegedly offered Satish ₹4 lakh for his involvement in the crime. Satish, a systems administrator at a private firm, then enlisted his cousin Kiran, a farmer, to assist.
The arrest of the three individuals has brought a degree of closure to the case, but the brutality of the crime has left the community in shock. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure that all aspects of the crime are fully understood and that justice is served.
