As the iconic Indian film 'Sholay' celebrates its Golden Jubilee, Abhishek Bachchan has expressed a heartfelt wish related to the film and his parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, who starred in it.
Abhishek Bachchan shared with IANS that he wishes to watch 'Sholay' on a 70 mm screen at the iconic Minerva Theatre. He revealed that he has never seen 'Sholay' in that format. He keeps requesting his friend Rohan Sippy to remaster the film so they can watch it at Minerva Theatre. Rohan Sippy and Abhishek have worked together on three films, and their fathers also collaborated on 'Sholay'. He hopes for a re-release of the film so that it can be experienced in its full glory.
In addition to his wish to see 'Sholay' on the big screen, Abhishek also highlighted a unique aspect of the film's legacy. He noted that 'Sholay' was the first film to release an audio cassette featuring just its dialogues. The dialogues became so iconic that they were released separately in audio format.
Beyond 'Sholay', Abhishek Bachchan has also celebrated other milestones of his parents. In June 2023, he marked Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's 50th wedding anniversary with a touching tribute on social media. He shared a carousel of images, including a recent photo and a throwback picture of his parents, and expressed his joy. He wrote, "Adding to the list of the many Golden Jubilees to their credit… But this, is by far the most special one. Happy 50th wedding anniversary Ma and Pa!".
His sister, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, also shared a heartwarming anniversary wish with a throwback image of her parents. She humorously shared her parents' secrets to a long marriage. Amitabh Bachchan also expressed his gratitude for the wishes in a blog post.
Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan have starred in several memorable films together, including 'Sholay', 'Abhimaan', 'Silsila', 'Chupke Chupke', and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'.
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in 'Project K' with Deepika Padukone and Prabhas, and Jaya Bachchan will feature in Karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani'.
