Rajasthan Police have apprehended several individuals allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for purportedly plotting terror attacks in Delhi and Gwalior on Independence Day. The arrests followed investigations into the gang's alleged involvement in a grenade blast outside a liquor shop in Nawanshahr, Punjab, which occurred on July 7.
The individuals are suspected of planning terror attacks in Delhi and Gwalior. The authorities are currently interrogating the suspects to determine the extent of the planned attacks and to uncover any further details about the Bishnoi gang's operations and network.
Lawrence Bishnoi is an Indian gangster. Bishnoi has been involved in various criminal activities, and his gang has a significant presence in several states. In March 2023, three members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested after an encounter with the police in Ganganagar, Rajasthan. The gang had been attempting to extort money from a businessman. Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi's brother, had threatened the businessman before sending two aides to his house.
The arrest of these alleged Bishnoi gang members comes amid increased vigilance and security measures in the lead-up to Independence Day. Security agencies across the country have been on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents.
