Triptii Dimri is currently immersed in the final stages of filming for Vishal Bhardwaj's upcoming action thriller, "Romeo," in Spain. The film, which also stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead role, has generated considerable buzz and is slated for release on December 5, 2025.
"Romeo" marks a significant collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, their fourth after critically acclaimed films like "Kaminey," "Haider," and "Rangoon". The film promises to be a unique action thriller tailored for modern audiences. Kapoor will portray a vibrant and multifaceted gangster, a character unlike any he has played before. The film is a violent love story set against the backdrop of the Bombay underworld in the 90s, incorporating Western influences in its style and mannerisms.
Triptii Dimri stars as the female lead in "Romeo". Adding to the ensemble cast are Nana Patekar, Randeep Hooda, Vikrant Massey, and Farida Jalal, each playing significant roles. Recent reports also suggest that Avinash Tiwary has joined the cast, reuniting with Dimri after their previous collaborations in "Laila Majnu" and "Bulbbul". Tiwary is expected to play an integral role with a bold new look, and he has already commenced shooting his portions in Spain.
Disha Patani will also make a special appearance in "Romeo," featuring in a dance number alongside Shahid Kapoor. This marks Patani's first collaboration with Kapoor.
"Romeo" is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The filmmakers are confident about the film's prospects and are aiming for the December 5, 2025, release date, despite potential competition from Ranveer Singh's "Dhurandhar" and Prabhas' "The Raja Saab".
With the filming of "Romeo" nearing completion, Shahid Kapoor is expected to transition to his next project, "Cocktail 2," a romantic comedy co-starring Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.
Industry insiders suggest that the title "Romeo" perfectly captures the essence of Shahid Kapoor's character in the film. Other titles like "Arjun Ustara" and "Evil" were considered, but the filmmakers ultimately chose "Romeo". The movie is anticipated to offer a distinctive and contemporary approach to the action thriller genre.
