The enduring marriage of Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, has recently been the subject of intense media scrutiny, with conflicting reports emerging about their marital status after nearly four decades together.

Initial reports suggested that Sunita Ahuja had filed for divorce, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion as grounds for the dissolution of their marriage. These reports indicated that the divorce petition was submitted in December 2024, leading to court-ordered counseling sessions. It was alleged that Sunita filed the petition under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. Some reports speculated that Govinda's closeness to a younger actress may have contributed to the alleged marital discord.

However, these claims have been refuted by Govinda's lawyer and team, who maintain that there is no ongoing divorce case and that the couple remains happily married. Govinda's lawyer, Lalit Bindra, dismissed the allegations, stating that everything is being settled and emphasized the strength of their 38-year marriage. A family source further added that the couple is planning to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi together. Govinda's manager denied all claims of a divorce.

Adding another layer to the conflicting narratives, in February 2025, Govinda's team acknowledged that Sunita had indeed filed for divorce six months prior but insisted that the couple had since reconciled. At the time, Sunita also dismissed the speculations, urging the media to verify information with her directly. She said, “If anyone in this world dares to separate me and Govinda, let them come forward”.

Amidst these swirling rumors, their son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, shared a peaceful image of a pooja at their home, capturing a serene moment.

Despite the conflicting reports, one thing remains clear: Govinda and Sunita Ahuja's relationship has faced its share of challenges. The allegations of adultery and cruelty are serious. However, Govinda's team has denied these claims, and a close family friend believes the couple will reconcile, emphasizing Sunita's crucial role in Govinda's life. Govinda’s team stated that Govinda is not the kind of person who could raise his hand on someone, so claims of cruelty are unfounded. They added that these are issues from the past that the couple is working through together.
