Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a three-nation tour today, June 15, 2025, with his first stop being Cyprus. This visit marks a significant milestone as it is the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Cyprus in over two decades. Following his engagements in Cyprus, PM Modi will proceed to Canada to participate in the G7 Summit and will conclude his tour with a visit to Croatia.

The visit to Cyprus, at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides, underscores the strengthening relationship between India and Cyprus. During his stay in Nicosia, PM Modi is scheduled to hold talks with President Christodoulides, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors. He will also address business leaders in Limassol, highlighting the potential for increased economic partnerships between the two nations. This visit is expected to reaffirm the shared commitment of India and Cyprus to deepen their ties and strengthen India's engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.

Cyprus has been a consistent supporter of India's stance on critical issues such as Kashmir, cross-border terrorism, and reforms within the United Nations Security Council. The timing of the visit is also noteworthy, as Cyprus is preparing to assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026.

The second leg of PM Modi's journey will take him to Kananaskis, Canada, where he will attend the G7 Summit. This marks his sixth consecutive participation in the summit, providing a platform to exchange views with leaders from G7 countries, invited outreach countries, and heads of international organizations. Discussions at the summit will center on pressing global issues, including energy security, technology, and innovation, with a particular focus on the AI-energy nexus and Quantum-related matters. PM Modi is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings with other world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

Concluding his three-nation tour, PM Modi will visit Croatia on June 18 at the invitation of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. This visit is particularly significant as it is the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, signaling a new chapter in India-Croatia relations. During his stay, PM Modi will engage in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Plenkovic and meet Croatian President Zoran Milanovic. The visit aims to further strengthen India's ties with its partners in the European Union, exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation in various fields.
