Mahe, Seychelles, June 22, 2025 – India is poised for a strong showing at the Seychelles National Day Boxing Tournament, with six of its boxers advancing to the finals. The Indian contingent has displayed impressive performances throughout the tournament, securing their spots in the gold medal bouts at the Paradise Arena in Mahe.

Aditya Pratap (65kg) of Uttar Pradesh, a former Elorda Cup participant and National Combined Finals silver medalist, secured his place in the final with a dominant RSC (Referee Stops Contest) victory in the third round against Seychelles' own Jovanie Bouzin. Neeraj (75kg), another National Combined silver medalist, replicated this feat with an RSC win in the second round of his semifinal match.

Himanshu Sharma (50kg) of Haryana, a former Belgrade Boxing Champion and bronze medalist at the 6th Elite Nationals, demonstrated his skill and experience with a confident 4:1 victory on points against Mathieu Soupprayen of Mauritius. Ashish Mudshaniya (55kg) of Uttar Pradesh, the reigning National Combined champion, continued his winning streak with a 4:1 victory over Guillaume Francis, also from Mauritius. Anmol (60kg) of Haryana, a National Combined silver medalist, earned a 4:1 split decision win against Dario Gaberiel of Seychelles, adding to India's tally of finalists.

Gaurav Chauhan (90+ kg) from Services, a gold medalist at the 37th National Games and bronze medalist at the 2024 Elorda Cup, received a direct entry into the final. His experience and pedigree make him a strong contender for another gold medal.

However, not all Indian boxers were successful in reaching the finals. Kartik Dalal (70kg) fought valiantly but lost a close 1:4 decision on points to Blessing Nziyana of South Africa.

These six finalists have guaranteed India several podium finishes at the Seychelles National Day Boxing Tournament. Their success is a testament to the growing strength and depth of Indian boxing, as well as the effectiveness of the Boxing Federation of India's (BFI) efforts to provide international exposure to its athletes. The finals will be held on Sunday, where the Indian pugilists will aim to convert their opportunities into gold medals.

The tournament serves as a valuable platform for Indian boxers to test their skills against international competition and gain experience on the global stage. The exposure gained in tournaments like these is crucial for the development of young boxers and helps prepare them for future international events.
