Indian Railways Unveils RailOne App: A Unified Platform for Seamless Passenger Services Across India.

Indian Railways has launched "RailOne," a comprehensive mobile application designed to consolidate all passenger-related services into a single digital platform. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the app on Tuesday, during the 40th Foundation Day celebration of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). RailOne aims to revolutionize the passenger experience by integrating a wide array of services, previously scattered across multiple apps, into one user-friendly interface.

The RailOne app offers a multitude of features, including reserved and unreserved ticket booking, as well as platform tickets. Passengers can also use the app for train inquiries, PNR status updates, and journey planning. Furthermore, RailOne integrates "Rail Madad Services" for lodging complaints and seeking assistance, along with "Food on Train" services for meal bookings. The app also caters to logistics customers with freight-related inquiries.

According to the Ministry of Railways, the core emphasis of the app is to enhance user experience through a seamless and clean user interface. RailOne combines all services in one location and integrates them to provide users with a complete package of Indian Railway services. A standout feature of the app is its single sign-on facility, which simplifies user access across various services without the need to manage multiple passwords. Users can register using their existing credentials from the RailConnect or UTSonMobile apps. The app also includes an integrated R-Wallet (Railway e-wallet) feature, enabling seamless payments for various services. For basic inquiries, the app provides guest access using a mobile number and a one-time password (OTP).

RailOne is available for download on both Android and iOS platforms. The app aims to reduce digital clutter by offering a holistic, user-centric platform for all Indian Railway services, making it efficient and space-saving. IRCTC will continue to levy a convenience fee for reserved ticket bookings within the new application.

In addition to the RailOne app launch, Indian Railways announced three major changes to its booking system:

  • Advanced Charting: Train charts will now be prepared 8 hours before departure instead of 4. For morning trains (before 2 PM), charts will be finalized the night before at 9 PM.
  • Verified Tatkal Booking Users: Only verified users (via Aadhaar or DigiLocker) will be allowed Tatkal bookings. OTP verification will be fully enforced by the end of July 2025.
  • Reservation System Upgrade (December 2025): The CRIS-developed backend will be upgraded to handle 150,000 ticket bookings and 4 million inquiries per minute. Multilingual interface and support for special user categories will be introduced.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of passenger safety and the rapid development of railway infrastructure. He noted that new technology trains like Namo Bharat, Vande Bharat, and Amrit Bharat have been introduced to build confidence among people. Vaishnaw also mentioned that the Electronic Interlocking System has been implemented at around 70 percent of stations.
