A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at approximately 9:04 AM IST. The tremors were felt across Delhi-NCR, causing many residents to rush out of their homes and offices.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the earthquake's epicenter was located in Jhajjar, Haryana. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers. The location of the epicenter is approximately 60 kilometers from Delhi. The NCS further reported the earthquake's coordinates as Latitude: 28.63 N, Longitude: 76.68 E. Some reports indicated the epicenter was 4 km northeast of Jhajjar.

Strong tremors were felt not only in Delhi but also in other parts of the NCR, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. Residents reported experiencing the tremors, with some describing the experience as "scary" and "strong". People reported seeing fans and furniture shaking, prompting them to evacuate buildings.

While the earthquake caused considerable panic, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) issued an advisory, urging people to follow safety guidelines before, during, and after an earthquake.

Delhi falls under Seismic Zone IV, which is the second-highest classification on India's seismic zoning map, indicating a high vulnerability to earthquakes. The region is prone to tremors due to both local fault lines and seismic activity from the Himalayas.

Smaller tremors are not uncommon in the Delhi-NCR region. A minor earthquake of 2.3 magnitude was recorded on June 8, 2025, with its epicenter in South East Delhi. In February 2025, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter in Dhaula Kuan also caused tremors in the area.
