IIT Guwahati held its 27th Convocation on July 13, 2025, celebrating the academic achievements of 2093 graduating students. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the institute, awarding degrees across various disciplines, including Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD programs.

The convocation ceremony was graced by Dr. Rajendra Singh, D. Houser Banks Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University, USA, as the Chief Guest, and Shri J. D. Patil, President of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, as the Guest of Honor.

Professor Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, expressed his pride in the students' accomplishments and the institute's growing impact on science, technology, and nation-building. He noted that the convocation was a testament to the institute's commitment to shaping India's future through education and innovation. He also shared his confidence that the experiences and insights of the guests of honor would inspire the graduating class as they embark on the next phase of their lives.

This year, the institute awarded 1005 degrees in Undergraduate programs, 818 in Postgraduate programs, and 270 in PhD programs. In addition to the degrees, the institute also presented four Gold Medals to recognize outstanding performances. These included the President's Gold Medal, the Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and the Governor of Assam Gold Medals for both undergraduate and postgraduate categories.

The 27th Convocation also celebrated the graduation of the first batch of B.Tech students from the Mehta School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

IIT Guwahati's journey has been remarkable since its first convocation in 1999, when only 63 students graduated. Over the past 26 years, the institute has conferred degrees to over 24,700 students, marking a significant contribution to the field of education and research.
