The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at 18 locations across Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in connection with an alleged ₹500 crore medical supply scam. The raids targeted individuals and entities linked to the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), including some government officials, medical suppliers, agents, and middlemen in Raipur, Durg, and surrounding areas.

The ED's investigation is based on a chargesheet filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau/Economic Offences Wing (ACB/EOW) in April against six individuals. The chargesheet alleges irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment and reagent chemicals in 2023, which caused a loss of ₹550 crore to the state. The ED is investigating suspected violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to sources, the ED probe stems from the ACB/EOW chargesheet filed in April against six individuals for alleged irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment and reagent chemicals in 2023 that caused a loss of Rs 550 crore to the state exchequer. The ACB/EOW had previously, on January 22, lodged a case against officials of the state-run Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Ltd (CGMSCL) in Raipur and the Directorate of Health Services department, as well as four firms, namely Mokshit Corporation (Durg), CB Corporation (Durg), Records and Medicare System HSIIDC (Panchkula, Haryana) and Shri Sharda Industries (Raipur), as well as others.

The ED's action follows an ACB/EOW chargesheet alleging irregularities in medical equipment and reagent purchases in 2023, causing a significant loss to the state. Premises linked to some government officials, medical suppliers and agents apart from some "middlemen" are being raided in Raipur, Durg and adjoining places.

In Durg, ED and EOW teams simultaneously raided three residential and commercial premises linked to Mokshit Corporation. The operation, involving over two dozen officers and CRPF personnel, was carried out under strict security protocols. The sites were sealed, and public access was restricted during the searches.

Earlier investigations led to the custody of five senior officials, including Kamalkant Patanwar, Vasant Kaushik (General Manager), Dr. Anil Parsai (Deputy Director, Health), and others, for their alleged involvement in the scam. Investigative agencies suspect that inflated procurement contracts and forged records were used to siphon off public funds.

The CGMSCL has made purchases worth billions of rupees between January 2022 and October 31, 2023, allegedly in collusion with Mokshit Corporation and its shell company. Raids were conducted as part of the ongoing probe into large-scale irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment and supplies. Evidence is being scrutinized, and further legal action will follow.
