As the festive season approaches, Amazon India has announced a massive recruitment drive, creating over 1.5 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its operations network. This initiative aims to bolster the company's fulfillment and delivery capabilities to meet the anticipated surge in customer demand during the peak shopping period.

These seasonal positions include both direct and indirect work opportunities in more than 400 cities throughout India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Cochin, Coimbatore, Indore and Raipur. The jobs are available across Amazon's fulfillment centers (FCs), sort centers, and last-mile delivery network.

Amazon India has already onboarded many of these new associates. The recruitment drive includes opportunities for thousands of women and over 2,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs). This aligns with Amazon's commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and empowering work environment.

Abhinav Singh, VP - Operations, India & Australia, Amazon, stated that many seasonal associates continue their journey with Amazon beyond the festive period, with a significant number returning year after year. He also emphasized the company's priority to ensure the safety and well-being of all associates, whether they're working in Amazon's buildings or delivering packages.

To support the well-being of its associates, Amazon has implemented several initiatives, including expanding the number of Ashray rest centers to 100 across India. The company also provides free health check-ups to over 80,000 delivery associates in major cities, offering services such as eye, dental, BMI, and physician consultations. Additionally, on-site first aid ('AMCARE') facilities are available at fulfillment centers. Amazon also offers an "Early Access to Pay" (EATP) program that allows associates to withdraw up to 80% of their accrued basic salary within the first 20 days of each month. Amazon associates working at Amazon sites get 2 off-days every week and are entitled to mandatory holidays/optional holidays /annual leaves/sick leaves/casual leaves, as per applicable laws. All associates working at Amazon sites are entitled to provident fund (PF), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and gratuity benefits, in accordance with applicable laws.

In recent months, Amazon has invested $233 million (₹ 2000 crore) into its operations network in India, launching five new FCs and 30 new delivery stations in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. This expansion, coupled with the recruitment of 1.5 lakh seasonal workers, demonstrates Amazon's commitment to providing fast and reliable deliveries to customers across India.

Recruitment firms project that festive demand will drive significant job creation across the retail, e-commerce, and logistics sectors. Adecco India projected 2.16 lakh festive jobs this year, reflecting a 15–20% year-on-year rise in gig and temporary employment during H2 2025.
