A shocking incident in Mysuru has resulted in the death of a 20-year-old married woman, with her lover now in custody. The woman, identified as Rakshita, was discovered deceased in a lodge room in Bherya village, Saligrama taluk, with severe injuries to her face.
Rakshita, a resident of Gerasanahalli village in Hunsur taluk, was married to a migrant laborer from Kerala but was also involved in a relationship with Siddaraju from Bettadapura village. On August 23, 2025, Rakshita and Siddaraju checked into a lodge in Bherya village. During their stay, an argument reportedly occurred between the couple. According to police reports, Siddaraju allegedly murdered Rakshita by forcing an explosive substance into her mouth and detonating it. Some reports indicate the explosive was a gelatin stick or a chemical powder, while others suggest an electric detonator. The explosion resulted in severe wounds to her mouth and face, leading to her death.
After the gruesome act, Siddaraju allegedly attempted to mislead the lodge staff and authorities by claiming that Rakshita's death was caused by a mobile phone explosion. However, the lodge staff grew suspicious when they could not find any evidence of a mobile phone. Siddaraju's claim that he had thrown the phone out the window further fueled their suspicion. Alerted by the staff's concerns, the police were notified, and they took Siddaraju into custody.
The Mysuru police are currently investigating the case. The police are being assisted by forensic experts to determine the exact nature of the explosive substance used and to gather more evidence. Authorities have ruled out the use of gelatin sticks, but the investigation is ongoing to identify the object or substance used to inflict the fatal injuries. Superintendent of Police, Vishnuvardhan N, stated that the forensic science laboratory is examining the chemical powder combination used in the crime.
Initial investigations suggest that the murder was premeditated. Police are probing how Siddaraju acquired the explosive substance and whether he had any accomplices. There are also reports that Siddaraju restrained Rakshita and tied her hands before forcing the explosive into her mouth. The police are also investigating Siddaraju's possible involvement in a theft case in Kannur, Kerala.
This heinous crime has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about violence against women and the availability of explosive substances. The incident highlights the tragic consequences of illicit relationships and the importance of addressing such issues within society.
